About Windsurf
Windsurf is a fork of VS Code built around an agent that maintains context on the whole project rather than the open file. Its Cascade mode chains edits across files, runs commands and reacts to their output. Because it is a VS Code fork, extensions, keybindings and themes carry over, which makes the switch cheap to try. It competes directly with Cursor, and the two are close enough that the choice usually comes down to which agent’s behaviour you prefer.
